We
had an early Family Christmas when the Kraus Family from Carroll, IA visited
with 10 people in tow! It was wonderful and I bawled like a baby when they left
to go back to cold Iowa!
We
played Uno, Cranium, ate Prime Rib, held babies, chopped ice and had a few
toddies!

Twelve
of us stacked to the ceilings with babies crying, laughing and getting lots of
attention!
We
shopped, yes...in Mountain Grove...! Ha! Courtney bought earrings and a belt.
Tammy bought new boots and Ron got a Wrangler shirt!
It
is a Memory we won't soon forget...and it was even a "White
Pre-Christmas"!

Old
Man Winter finally paid Norwood, MO a vist with rain, freezing rain and then
snow on top of it all. We weren't ready for this since our average
temperatures in December are in the 50's! Thank goodness we knew it was coming
and had our tank heaters in the water tanks! It was cold but
"Beautiful"!
November 24 - 29, 2006

Our
son, Jamie, and Bill's sister, Jeanne, from Denver, CO visited us for 5 days and
we had a blast! It means so much to us that they came to spend a few days with
us. We visited, burned brush from the fields, ate like little pigs and made some
wonderful "Memories"!
Thanks
Punkin and Jamie!

Our
best friends from Denver, CO visited us this week and we can't say enough good
things about them! Jacqui and Frazier are two of the most wonderful people we
know. Jacqui is like a sister to me as we have known one another since we were
in the 3rd grade, we won't say how many years that has been! We feel very
blessed to have them in our lives!

More...can't
resist showing her off! Mom says "Move it!" as she lifts her baby up
in the air with her nose.

At
8:30 last night I helped deliver this little baby girl! What a color surprise!
She looks Rose Dun!

It
was practice time today as I have challenged another driver to a competition
in the Driving Class this Saturday in Hartville at the Fun Show. Wish me luck
as we are just learning our different gaits! I will keep you posted! Brumley
is such a good boy and got carrots afterwards.

Brumley,
Paula & Brumley and Donnie driving Brumley!
Last
Saturday, September 9th, Bill, Paula and I met Dee and Max Keithley in
Seymour, MO. We met in order to participate in the annual Apple Festival
Parade. Dee drove Vader and their niece, Halie Keithley, drove Arrow. Brumley,
Paula and I all walked in the parade. Dee brought a packsaddle and I proceeded
to put three toy donkeys on Brumley's back them to ride and wave at the
crowd!
We
had a really good time and we hook Brumley up afterwards and took a cart ride
with my new cart and harness! Thanks Braying Hills for adjusting my harness
and the wonderful cart!

We
lost Slim a little over a week ago to an infection. These pictures are in memory
of Slim and her first litter of kittens that are still looking for new homes!

Slim
& three of her five kittens.
My favorite kitten who is also looking for a home!

Bill
and I went to Rockpoint, a resort, down the road a ways. We went and looked at
another donkey lovers donkeys and then stopped for lunch. It was a beautiful day
and we took advantage of the great weather to take a walk.

Driving
at Braying Hills for a Fun Day with my Brumley!
Since
the MMDBA Play Day was cancelled Brumley and I decided we would have a Play
Day of our own at Braying Hills in Niangua, MO. Brumley was as good as gold
and as usual was a perfect gentleman! Brumley is my "favorite"
donkey!

Awwwwwwww!

I
know this should be a private moment but I just couldn't resist! Look at
that Face!

Okay...baby girl update!
This wee one is
really a pistol and thinks she is a tough little cookie. She will kick up
her heels at the other donkeys when she walks away from them. Maybe it's all 10 stripes on those legs that make her think she owns the world! Too cute!

May 10, 2006

Just
had to share some beautiful spring pictures that I took today. After last
year's drought and crunchy grass it is like a brand new world! The flowers are
in bloom and the donkeys are kicking up their heels with Spring Fever!

It's
a GIRL!
I
woke up at 6:30 this morning and looked out our bedroom window and saw a small
almost black little foal standing next to Sassie! She is nursing, I felt her
throat to make sure I felt a swallow and I dunked her little navel. Yes, HER!
We are so happy it is a girl! She is a doll and around 19" tall. She is
not black but probably more a black brown and she has 7 zebra stripes on each
leg. I think we are naming her Saulsa! She is already bucking and throwing her
head around. She was still soak and wet when we awoke to the surprise! We are
tickled pink!

April 26, 2006
Sassie looks like she may be getting ready to
have her foal. She is standing around with her ears back and her tail up and
by herself quite a bit today. We are on foal watch. Here are a couple of
pictures! We will keep you informed of the big event!

Hay
Fellow Donkey Drivers,
I
just wanted to tell you all what a wonderful weekend I had in Marshfield, MO
this weekend at a driving clinic sponsored by the MMDBA (Missouri Miniature
Donkey Breeders ASSociation). Jerry Cosgray, Master Driver, and the famous
"Nicodemus" and "Solomon" were our teachers.
It
was great meeting Members of the MMDBA that I hadn't met before and fun seeing
those Members that I had previously met!
I
hope everyone gained as much knowledge as I did during the clinic? I
had never driven before and I had so much confidence afterwards that I went
out and broke Brumley, my 2+ year old gelding today. I thought I would share
my experience with all of you.
This
afternoon I grabbed all my tack, my camera and my husband and off to the barn
we went to do the deed. I tacked Brumley up and he was very good about it
all.
I
have him trained to voice command to walk on, whoa and stand. Well, anyway I
thought I had! :) I don't have a buggy whip but I do have a dressage whip, so
I put that in my hand and climbed in. I knew the whip would be too short to
reach his shoulder without my stretching forward but figured I would just have
to make do.
I
said "Walk on." Nothing. Then I said "Walk on" and slapped
his back cannon bones with the whip. He actually took a few steps so off we
went. (I was trying so hard to remember everything Jerry told us but I forgot
one instruction. We will get to that in a moment.)
Brumley
was pretty cooperative but was not understanding exactly what it was I wanted
him to do. He started walking forward with tail wagging, a sure sign of
agitation! Then by golly he decided he just wasn't taking it any more. Off we
went at a pretty fast run, kicking and bucking all the way. Yes, it was
that dreaded run-away that Jerry said would happen some day! Well, this was
our day and no matter how hard I pulled on that left rein, Brumley wasn't
going anywhere but straight ahead! And guess what was straight ahead of us???
You guessed it, a big gate! Straight to the gate we were racing and
so was my mind. Okay, I was ready. I was remembering Jerry's words again
"A donkey won't run into a fence". Well, he was right, I had
remembered, I should be all right! Yep, Brumley turned at the last moment but
I had forgotten the ONE instruction I should have remembered! HOLD
ON!
Brumley
turned and I DIDN'T! I went flying! Brumley stopped immediately and I got
up laughing and yelled at my husband "I hope you got a picture of that!
"Yeah, right. He had put the camera down getting ready to run to my side
to make sure I was not hurt. (Thank you, honey!)
I
got right back in that cart and we went back and forth across the yard three
times and down the lane twice. I said "gee" and "ha" every
time we turned and we quit with a positive ride. So all went pretty well?!
It
is now three hours later and I must confess I do have a lump on my chin, a few
scratches and I feel like I have whiplash! I am sure I will be hurting a wee
bit more tomorrow but what FUN I had and it was all worth it and gave this gal
a good adrenaline rush! Ha!
Happy
Brays and don't forget to "Hold On",

I
want to thank the MMDBA for sponsoring the "Driving Clinic" so that I
had the opportunity to train my donkey and myself to drive! We will be doing the
Show Me Miniature Donkey Fun and Schooling Show with the MMDBA on May 6th at the
Hartville Saddle Club. And we will be entering the "driving classes"!
